What Is Castile Soap?
Castile soap is named after the Castile region in Spain. True Castile soap uses only olive oil as the base soap making oil. Today pure olive oil soaps are rare. This soap has been made for centuries in areas such as Spain, Italy and Greece where olives grow in abundance.

Why Canterbury's Castile Soap?
When making Canterbury's Castile soap we use the cold process method thus retaining the beneficial glycerin that is naturally formed in the soap making process but is removed in the making of commercial soaps.
Our handmade soaps are made from 100% olive oil and all natural ingredients. If scented, we use pure essential oils - never artificial perfumes or fragrances.

Why Use An Olive Oil Soap?

Because it does not leave a film, Castile soap allows your skin to carry out its natural functions such as sweating and shedding dead skin. At the same time it acts as a humectant, attracting moisture from the air, helping to keep your skin moisturized naturally. Olive oil lathers quickly with plenty of rich, creamy bubbles and produces a very hard soap that is exceptionally mild and long lasting. Castile soap is well known for its mildness and is suitable for babies and people with sensitive skin.

Plain Castile

An old fashioned soothing skin cleanser that is perfect for dry or irritated skin. Unscented..

Oatmeal Mint
A gentle exfoliating soap with the refreshing and invigorating scent of peppermint leaves and essential oil. A great pick-me-up soap for the mornings!

Packed full of vitamin A, this truly wonderful soap leaves the skin feeling soft and healthy. Unscented.

Lavender
Experience the calming and rejuvenating effects of lavender on the mind, body and soul when using this wonderfully scented soap.

Lemon Poppy seed Scrub
The gentle and refreshing scent of lemon combined with the gentle scrub provided by poppy seeds make this soap one of our own personal favorites.

Tea Tree & Sage
A very pleasing soap full of the well known healing properties of both of these beneficial plants.

Patchouli
Thought by many to be an aphrodisiac with strong anti-depressant actions, the unmistakable scent of patchouli speaks for itself!
